At the beginning we all were waiting outside for the 8:20 bell to ring. When the 8:10 bell rang we still had to sit down at the tables because it was wet outside and they didn’t want us to get hurt. The 8:20 bell finally rang and we all walked to our classrooms.
As soon as we went in our classrooms we got out our chromebooks. We logged into a math web-site called Front Row. On Front Row we did math fluency. Math Fluency is where we review simple math facts to warm up our brain. Our class also did Base 10. Base 10 is where we would work on place values, fractions, and more.. I feel like this is a really awesome, helpful, and fun way to learn.
After Front Row we got our usernames and passwords and logged onto a new web-site called Braingenie.ck12.org. Room 33 went to a button on the screen that said goals and clicked on it. On our screens a bunch of lessons popped up and we choose a lesson to start off with. We worked with place value, decimals, and fractions. I also feel like this is an awesome way to learn too.
Once that was done, (about 9:30 am) we went to a Bully assembly, this was about people to stop bullying other people. We would talk about if it was okay to chatter but not gossip, and we would do exciting activities if someone would get the answer right between gossip and chatter. Everybody thought that this was a hilarious way of making our school a bully free!
When we finished, we did 60 seconds sweep! Of course Mrs. Citizen would always say, “Make sure to write your name and date at the top of the page.” Anyway, how this would work is that we would have to write the equation, 36 math problems in 60 seconds. Personally I think that the whole class improved in the last week!
Then the bell rang for recess and everybody was excited as we walked out of our classrooms tempted to run. Some of us would go eat breakfast. This is good for the kids that don’t have time to eat at their own house because they might have been dropped off really early. Otherwise some of us would play basketball, punchball, 4 square, or even on the playground, but not in the field because today the grass was wet. Recess was very fun even if we didn’t go on the grass today.
Next our teacher (Mrs. Citizen) handed out a piece of paper that said Boggle on it. She explained the directions saying that there was 12 squares and mixed up letters in each one. Our teacher said that we had to come up with words that connect with each other to write it down on the paper for points.
Later on we started on working on our #BestWeekEver slide show because not many of us did it correctly. This took a little while because people failed to follow the directions printed on the paper. The people that were done in the meantime got to work on Boggle!
Meanwhile everybody was finishing up their slides and starting to work on their Boggle. This was a very fun way of challenging our brains and thinking skills. Our class actually covered a lot of work or found a lot of words. Then we had to switch over to silent reading.
At 11:57 we did silent reading! It was so silent in the room that I could have heard a pin drop if it did! Mrs. Citizen said that we read for exactly 27 minutes and after 27 minutes we all filled out our books in our reading logs!
Once we finished reading we went to lunch! The whole 4th and 5th graders all sat down to take a large bite out of their lunch. When we were finished eating we all lined up to go to recess. At recess we could play on the blacktop and the field because the field didn’t have any wet grass. On the blacktop we could play punch ball, tetherball, basketball, 4 square, spider, and on the equipment. On the field we could play football, soccer, kickball, and tag.
Following lunch, we had talked about Current Events. Current Events was part of our homework saying that we have to summarize one of the current events that we found. Also Mrs. Citizen explained the rules again one more time.
After that, some of us presented to the class for tic-tac-toe reading because one or two activities told us to present in front of the class. This was really cool because one of activities said to ask 10 questions as if you were an interviewer interviewing one of the characters in your book. So one of our classmates did this very interesting video, taping himself as the character!
Before Go Noodle we got our homework which was math , tic-tac-toe reading , Current Events, and filling out a form about classroom jobs. Right when we got it Mrs. Citizen told us to put them in our backpacks. We did as what we were told and cleaned up our area that we worked at.
During P.E. time instead of going outside and running we did indoor P.E.! Our teacher would go on a web-site that is called Go Noodle that helps us exercise in a fun way! For example the Whip and Nae Nae , and Maximo (doing the Chicken Dance)! I felt like this was a really fun way to end the day!
Finally it was the end of the day! So we all grabbed our backpacks and rushed out of the school when the bell rang. I think we all knew that this was a very fun day and I’m sure it would be tomorrow!
