Spelling Activities
Please select and complete your choice of activities below. Add up the points in parenthesis to make certain you have completed a minimum of 45 points worth of activities by Thursday. All activities are due on FRIDAY!
You have the option of typing all your assignments on GoogleDocs and sharing with me at l[email protected]. You will get 2 BONUS POINTS per shared assignment if ALL assignments are shared on GoogleDocs |
1. Make a tree map according to the sound spelling patterns. (5)
2. Write the spelling words neatly in cursive and underline the sound spellings patterns. (5) {ONLY IF WRITTEN}
3. Divided each spelling word into syllables. Make sure to print neatly if you are writing. (5)
4. Alphabetize the spelling words. (5)
5. Write each spelling word in a creative sentence. (5)
6. Write the dictionary definition of each spelling word along with the part of speech. (7)
7. Classify each spelling word according to parts of speech using a Tree Map. (7)
8. Write synonyms and/or antonyms for each word. (7)
9. Using each word, make a word search for a classmate to solve. (8)
10. Using 10 spelling words, make a crossword puzzle for a classmate to solve. (9)
11. Design a key and write the spelling words in code for a classmate to solve. (9)
12. Scramble each spelling word for a classmate to solve. (6)
13. Write a one page STORY using at least 10 spelling words. (8)
14. Write a poem using at least 10 spelling words. (6)
15. Cut out the spelling words from a newspaper or magazine and make a collage. (7) {ONLY IF NOT ON COMPUTER}
16. Create a picture book for each spelling word for a classmate to solve. (7)
17. Write the orgin of each speling word. (8)
18. Write each spelling word and find samller words in each of the spelling words. (7)
19. Using ten spelling words as the lines in a drawing, draw a scene on a blank sheet of paper. Write each of the ten spelling words five times as you complete your picture. (4)
20. Using different color pens, markers, or font, write each spelling word as a complete word, but write each syllable in a different color. For example, the word “mythical” might have myth in red, i written in blue, and cal written in orange. (6)
