Today was a great day, especially since it was a short day! Since this week is student led conference week, we get to leave at 12:35 so the teachers can have conferences with the students. It is very exciting to see what your grades are in your conference.
When the 8:20 bell rang to start school, our class lined up at room 33’s line. Mrs. Citizen was talking to the other teachers, so we waited in line for a little bit. When Mrs. Citizen finished her conversation, she ushered us to go to our classroom, we walked quietly and quickly in line.
As we approached the classroom, we created our morning circle. Our class president, Ryan G. picked our topic to talk about this morning. He picked the topic of playing Silent Speed Ball. To play the game Silent Speed Ball, you have to throw the ball to someone else that isn’t next to you. That person has to catch it or they are out. Mrs. Citizen added a twist to the game. She explained, “When the person throws the ball to you, you say your favorite color. Even if you’re out, you still say your color.” We also said our favorite animals. This activity lasted from 8:20-8:48 A.M..
Once we finished, we came inside the class and opened our agendas and homework so the reading and homework monitors can check it. We waited in line for our chromebooks, as the technology specialists passed our technology folders and chromebooks out. Our class worked on the websites that were listed on the board. We did each website in order as it was written on the board. We did our Reading Log Survey, then our XtraMath, our FrontRow, and then our GoFormative test. We worked on decimals, exponents, multiplication, and division. The points ranged from 0/50-50/50. We worked on this till recess time. If we were done, we would work on our chapter 1 Pax 321 document.
When the bell rang to go to recess, Mrs. citizen excused us. We could play a variety of different games or just talk. We could play 4-Square, basketball, soccer, kickball, or just play on the play structures, field, or blacktop. Some people ate snack at the pavilion.
At 10:45 A.M., we walked back to class. We sat down and listened to instructions. Mrs. Citizen explained how to login to Newsela. She told us the code and we used our Google accounts to sign in. We then continued our Pax 321 document. We watched the videos and read the articles on the gameboard. We also answered the questions on the document. It was a very fun activity.
As the day was drawing nearer to the end, Mrs. Citizen told us our homework and we wrote it inside our agendas. Our homework was to finish our Pax 321 document, make a double bubble map of two different characters in two different books that we have read, to cut out letters from a newspaper and make our spelling words out of it, finish the rest of our math, and read for 30 minutes. The 12:35 bell rang and we were dismissed to go home or to a after school program. Everybody rushed out the door and off they went.
As a result, this was one of the best days ever. It was filled with joy and excitement. We had gotten many things done and the time flew by fast.
