When we first got to school, we waited in the cafeteria/ pavilion until it was 8: 10. We left the cafeteria room and went to our classrooms, hoping for a good day. We played at early morning recess until the 8:20 bell rang. That signaled all the scholars to line up and head to our classroom.
After we put our backpacks away and got our homework from last night, we got in a circle, inside this time, when we put our materials for the day down. Today’s topic was to think of one word to describe how you were feeling today. A lot of people chose happy while some chose craftsy, hopeful, tired, or cold.
When Mrs. Citizen said, “Get out your chromebooks and do your daily reading survey,” we did just that. The homework we had last night was corrected and we worked on our survey. We had to do a summary using the “Someone, Wanted, But, So, Then” strategy.
As we finished our reading survey, our teacher instructed us to work on our math practice routine. Our order is Xtra Math and then Front Row. We read when we were finished with our math.
After reading, our teacher gave us a multiplication by three worksheet and we had to finish it in two minutes. The first time we did it, wrote our score down, corrected it, and flipped to the other side. The other side was filled with the same exact problems, but on the top there was an improvement section that we need to fill out. We finished the second side, wrote our improvements, and moved on to our next activity.
When we finished our “Multiply by 3 Chart”, Mrs. Citizen did some other problems of converting tenths into a decimal. This was something similar to this: 28 tenths= 2.8. We had to solve a word problem using a place value chart. This problem used multiplication and place value.
After presenting and finishing our word problem, we were given a chart to fill out. This chart was to help us learn exponents. We learned the proper names of ten to the power of two which is also known as ten squared and ten to the power of three is known as ten cubed.
When our math time ended, Mrs. Citizen shared a document called, Fox 3-2-1 Bridge. We worked on filling out three thoughts, two questions, and one literary device. We then worked on a Fox MTS Game Board, so we can understand foxes better because our class reading selection for the Global Read Aloud is the book, PAX.
When the bell rang, Mrs. Citizen dismissed us to recess. Some people went to “Second Chance Breakfast” and others went to play. Some people just hung out with their friends.
After recess was over, Ms. Stacie, our Project L.E.A.D. teacher, came in. We split up into three groups and checked with each other. One person from each group came up and shared their group’s answers with the class. We were then given a small skit script telling and teaching us about the “Juvenile System”.
When Ms. Stacie left, we continued our game board. We worked on and watched videos of foxes with our gameboard. We did this until Mrs. Citizen gave us our homework.
At the end of the day, Mrs. Citizen gave us our homework, Storybird login information, and our Wednesday folders. We were given Prodigy papers for our parents and Halloween cookie sale cookies. It was an exciting day that we hope to have again.
