At first , when our teacher picked us up from our line we went right into our morning circle. Today we partnered up with only one other of our classmates. We each got to pick a topic to talk about.when we both finished our turn we got our stuff and brought in the classroom.
Once we were all inside and got out our supplies from our backpacks, we all got out our reading notebooks. When everyone was quiet and had out their reading notebooks out, Mrs. Citizen started explaining how to write summaries to books. When she was done explaining we paired ourselves into groups of two. In our groups we picked out a easy picture book, read the book, and wrote a summary of the book using “Someone, Wanted, But, So , Then” as our order of sentences. When everyone finally finished we all shared what we wrote.
After we all shared our summary we worked on our daily reading homework survey. The daily reading homework survey is when we fill out this form on our classroom website to show that we did our reading homework. We use this strategy also to practice writing a summary.Everyone was moving at their own pace so some finished their daily reading homework survey.
After you finished your daily reading homework we went on Xtramath.com to practice math. You could be on addition, subtraction, multiplication, or even division. The website usually keeps you on the stage that you need to work on.
Once you sign out of xtramath you go on front row. On frontrow you usually do just do math facts if you do math fluency. It usually doesn't take you long because there is only 24 math facts.
Afterwards you would go on prodigy which is a new math website to some of us. Prodigy is a game when you are a wizard and you are defeating monsters or wizards by casting spells on them. But the only way you could cast the spell is by doing math problems.
After a little of prodigy we all went to recess. At recess you could do all kinds of things. Most of the kids who play sports either play kickball or soccer at recess.
After the bell rang our teacher came to pick us up. Once we were inside we had a little quiet time to cool and calm down. Once Mrs. Citizen was ready we got our new Pax reading books. Everyone had to partner up with someone because we only had enough for 15and we had 30 kids in our class. We went on the carpet to read as a class. We all Switched off between Mrs. Citizen, the girls, and the boys. After a group read we went over on what just happened.
When we finished reading one chapter, we went to a primary source investigation. In the primary source investigation we were put into groups and given a piece of information and a large piece of yellow paper. We were told to write down what the article meant in our own words.
Finally we wrote our homework in our agenda, packed up our supplies, and left the classroom so we could be picked up.
