We arrived at school. Our class hung up our backpacks up, and we went to early recess. Some people just hung out. The bell rang and we went to our line. The teacher came and lead us to class.
Afterwords, we read for thirty minutes. The teacher then told us to stop reading, and make partners to talk about the book you read. Our teacher then told us to stop talking to your partner and tell the class what your partner said to you. We made sure to state our partners name before sharing the information with our class.
Once class reading was over, we did what is called a sixty second sweep. The sixty second sweep is where there are a math paper filled up with products and around it we have to fill out the factors around it, within sixty seconds. We do the same thing over and over every day so we can build up on our math fluency, to the point where we can do all the problems within the sixty seconds. I have to say this is a very challenging process.
Then we did Front Row. We did math fluency and base 10. Math fluency is when you type in the right answer, and you get coins for doing that, it works the same for base 10. Everybody seems to really enjoy doing Front Row.
After we did Front Row, Mrs.Citizen shared with us a video of her summer. An Animoto is a video that can describe anything. She told us that we will be making a Animoto that describes ourselves. The teacher said we will be sharing our Animoto when we are done.
After we watched the video, we went to recess. We played on the playground. We played on the blacktop and other playground games and the grass. And then the bell rang and we went in line to go to our class.
Following recess, Mrs. Citizen told us to get out our pictures. She previously told us on Friday to print out pictures that represent ourselves. We started pasting our pictures on the plain notebook. Mrs. Citizen showed us examples of what her students had done.
After pasting pictures, we worked as a class to create a blog for the first day. Our whole class was the “Soaring Hawk” as we discussed about the sequence of events that happened on the first day. We worked in pairs and triads on one event that would equal to one paragraph.
After that, we got ready to go to lunch recess. Some went to the playground, some went to the field, and some helped carry lunch boxes to the lunch pavilion. Recess ended we all went and had lunch in the lunch pavilion
When we were done with lunch,we continued the flow-map about the first day of school where we wrote out our activities and completed it. We then shared it to everyone in our class like a full report. Mrs.Citizen posted it on the class website to let our parents see.
When lunch was over,Mrs.Citizen told us to get our chrome books and electronic folders. We had to go sit on the rug while Mrs Citizen explained on how to get onto the website, Animoto.com. She told us to pay attention, because there were two different emails, we all got a different number, and there was a password. People were all signed in, so we had to put in our website information in our electronic folder.
Then, our class went to the assembly. It was the playground summit assembly. We talked about the rules on the playground and at the school. We listened to the teachers talk about the rules of each sport and games. They talked about school safety, and the the rules what not to do and do. Everyone learned about safety and the rules.
Shortly, Mr. Peck came in Room 33. He wanted to know if anyone wanted to sign up for music class. A couple people raised their hands. So, he passed out some papers. Other people asked some other questions. But then he left.
At the end of the day, Mrs. Citizen talked about our homework. She explained the homework and answered our questions. Our homework was to make a top 10 favorite book list, two flow maps, and make a commercial about what we read in 30 minutes.
